Short term fellowship to Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany

One of our PhD scholars recently attended a summer school at the Institute of Microbiology, Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany, from the 4th to the 29th of September 2023, and this is what he had to say:

I had the privilege of participating in the LOEWE-Centre DRUID's Summer school, which took place from the 4th to the 29th of September 2023 at the Institute of Microbiology, UniversitätsKlinikum, Frankfurt, Germany.

My invitation to the program was facilitated by the Centre for Advanced Medical Research and Training (CAMRET) at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Dr. Mustapha Umar Imam, the Director of CAMRET, played an important role in establishing the collaboration with Professor Peter Kraiczy, the DRUID coordinator. Both institutions were engaged in collaborative research efforts, which laid the foundation for my participation in the summer school.

I must express my admiration for Dr. Mustapha Umar Imam's dedication to service, particularly his efforts in nominating students for national and international training and awarding scholarships to biomedical and medical students. His zeal for research and mentorship has been instrumental in revitalizing CAMRET into a world-class laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for research and the diagnosis of infectious tropical diseases. Notably, during the COVID-19 pandemic, CAMRET became one of the referral laboratories for COVID-19 diagnosis.

The combined impact of the scholarship awarded by CAMRET, my nomination for the DRUID summer school, and the in-house training at CAMRET have profoundly transformed me into a better researcher. I am immensely grateful to the DRUID consortium organizers, the management of CAMRET, and the leadership of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, for creating an enabling environment for my successful research endeavors.

Thank you once again to the DRUID consortium, CAMRET, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Professor Peter Kraiczy, and his research team for this life-changing experience.

Sincerely,
Mr. Abdulrahman Adamu
